CEN 411 Public
Elections Nominations Process

The Notice of Election will be published on Tuesday 21st March 2023 for the District Council and for Parish Council elections. This will mark the start of the period in which candidate nomination forms can be submitted by those who wish to stand for election on 4th May.

As in 2019, the District Council will be offering appointments to those who wish to submit their nomination papers. As part of this appointment they are able to conduct an informal check to confirm that the nomination paper is valid ‘on face value’ – It is always the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the information contained on the nomination paper is accurate and correct prior to formal submission.

Please contact the District Council by email at [email protected] in order to request an appointment, also advising the number of nomination papers you are likely to be bringing and any times which you are unavailable. You can also use this email address for sending them a scan of completed nomination papers so they can undertake informal checking and advise on any corrections ahead of your appointment.

All nominations must be formally submitted by hand at North Norfolk District Council offices, Holt Road, Cromer, NR27 9EN  . The deadline for formal submission of nomination papers is 4pm on Tuesday 4th April.

VOTER ID FOR POLLING STATION VOTERS

As I am sure you have seen in the news recently, the UK government has announced that electors choosing to vote in person at the polling station on 4th May will need to present an accepted form of photographic ID in order to receive their ballot paper. Widely known as Voter ID this is one of the key aspects of the Elections Act 2022 and will see some of the biggest changes at the polling station in generations.

On Monday 16th January, the Government have launched a service where any elector who does not have one of the accepted forms of photographic identification, can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate which they can take to their polling station in order to confirm their identity and obtain their ballot paper.

Time to get walking again!

With Spring on its way we start to think about getting out to walk in the beautiful English Countryside again, but where to find new and interesting walks?

Walking in Norfolk https://www.walkinginengland.co.uk/norfolk has loads of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, details of all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John Harris (who maintains the website) said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Norfolk (part of the Walking in England website) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!
